If you are applying to vote absentee or early mail in the school district budget vote/election, please print and complete the School District Absentee Ballot Application or the Early Mail Ballot Application, linked above. Applications may not be submitted prior to April 20, 2026 this year. Time & Place

Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the elementary school within your school election district.

 

Electors will be voting on the budget of the Valley Stream Union Free School District 30 and the Valley Stream Central High School District and for the election of two (2) trustees to the Valley Stream #30 Board of Education.

The last day of Voter Registration for the May 19, 2026 election is May 12, 2026. You may register from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the school secretary in the main office of each building on that day or, if more convenient, you may register after school hours from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with an election inspector who will be in the lobby.
   
In addition, open registration will continue to be conducted through May 12, 2026 during the hours for enrollment of children for a school term at each of the District schools and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the office of the District Clerk, at the Administration Offices, 175 North Central Ave., Valley Stream, NY.

Voter Qualifications

In accordance with Education Law Section 2012, a person shall be entitled to vote at any school meeting for the election of school district officers, and upon all other matters, which may be brought before such meeting, who is:

 

  1. A citizen of the United States, AND
  2. Eighteen (18) years of age, AND
  3. A resident within the district for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the meeting at which he/she offer to vote, AND
  4. Duly registered to vote at School District Elections, OR
  5. Duly registered to vote in the General Elections, as certified by the Nassau County Board of Elections.

 

Qualified voters who are registered with the county board of elections are eligible to vote at the school district meetings without further registration.
