District-wide Air Conditioning
The District’s facilities department has been working diligently on the AC Capital Project across our three buildings. The project is a major project that involves construction in all classrooms, offices and spaces in our schools. Since the project involves heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), the work is scheduled to happen over the few years culminating in June 2026. This project will allow all our schools to have central AC that will help with heat waves and allow the school day to run smoothly. This project was approved by our Community as a way to enhance, upgrade and beatify our District.
Integrated Pest Management
Educational Law requires that all schools establish a pesticide notification procedure. Part of that procedure includes establishing a registry of names and addresses of people who wish to be notified prior to any application. Although the School District does not regularly use pesticides, there may be an occasion where we have to. If you wish to be placed on the notification registry, please contact the Facilities Office (516-434-3620). Valley Stream Union Free School District 30 operates elementary schools that enroll students from kindergarten through sixth grade — it does not include middle or high school grades, which are served by the separate Valley Stream Central High School District.
The district comprises three K‑6 schools: Clear Stream Avenue School, Forest Road School, and Shaw Avenue School.
Curriculum & Instruction handles the development and implementation of the core curriculum, English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, as well as enrichment programs, fine arts, and library media resources for all grade levels.
