Title: Clearstream Avenue Elementary Brings Families and Students Together to Honor 9/11
Valley Stream, NY – Clearstream Avenue Elementary held its annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony, bringing together students, staff, and families to reflect on the importance of unity and community. The ceremony included a student-led song, the Pledge of Allegiance, and brief remarks from Principal John Singleton, who has led Clearstream for more than 15 years. He emphasized the values of respect, listening to different perspectives, and standing together as a school family.
When asked about the importance of such events, Superintendent Dr. Roxanne Garcia-France said, “Through our annual September 11 remembrance, students gain a deeper understanding of their place within history. It is important for them to learn from the past so they can help forge a better future for everyone.”
Parents also attended, standing alongside the school community to honor the day. Their presence reinforced for students that adults are committed to nurturing a sense of belonging and creating a safe, welcoming environment that helps children grow into compassionate Global Leaders of Tomorrow.
