On Oct. 1, the Nassau County Police Department visited students at Shaw Avenue Elementary School in Valley Stream for their toy drive.
The NCPD, led by Commissioner Patrick Ryder, unloaded a truck full of toys for students to choose from. They also held a fun, interactive presentation in which they showcased their armored vehicles, police horses, K-9 unit and an SUV. Students learned about police officers and their day-to-day duties and they got a hands-on experience about some of the NCPD’s equipment. Additionally, students shared thank-you cards and posters with the police department to show gratitude for their local officers.
Valley Stream School District 30 thanks the Nassau County Police Department for taking time to educate Shaw Avenue’s students on their daily tasks and responsibilities.
