Substitute Teacher Technology Orientation presentation

Valley Stream 30's strategic plan speaks to the importance of technology in our district. We aim to provide access to technological resources in an equitable manner, create student engagement by providing these tools, and anticipate the technological and instructional needs of our students as they progress through primary school and beyond.

Our strategic plan is the foundation upon which Valley Stream 30's progressive approach to technology is built. Developed collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and other community stakeholders, it calls for the following:

Information, Media and Technology Skills - Students will receive instruction that provides access to technology-driven learning environments, which will develop their ability to demonstrate functional and critical thinking skills in the following areas: Information Literacy, Media Literacy and Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Literacy.

Data Security and Privacy

Technology is an integral part of the teaching and learning experience in the Valley Stream 30 Union Free School District. The ever-increasing availability of online teaching and learning resources comes with inherent risks and concerns regarding student data, privacy and student work. We as a district have a responsibility to ensure that student's data and privacy is adequately protected while using any online digital resource for school work. The Valley Stream 30 Union Free School District is providing the following information/resources for parents, teachers, and the community so that they can better understand what student data is, how student data is collected and used and the laws and practices that the district adheres to in order to protect student data and privacy.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding data privacy and security, please contact Christopher Onorato, Director of Technology and 21st Century Learning / Chief Information Officer (CIO) / Data Protection Officer (DPO).
