Children flourish when families have the support they need! This school year, our school leaders, teachers, and staff continue their dedication to connecting with and supporting families, helping our kids grow into the global leaders of tomorrow. Thanks to the $1.4 million Stronger Connections grant, Valley Stream District 30 is excited to enhance relationships between families, schools, and the community to boost student success. With this grant, we’re adding several new positions to our district for the 2024-2025 school year:

  •  Community Information Service Assistant
  •  District-wide School Counselor
  •  Social Workers

These caring professionals will team up with school psychologists and nurses to provide the support families need and to promote healthy social-emotional growth in our children. They will focus on building five important protective factors:

1. Helping parents be resilient

2. Encouraging friendships and connections

3. Sharing knowledge about parenting and child development

4. Providing practical help during the tough times

5. Supporting children in developing social and emotional skills

Additionally, the grant will fund fun activities to strengthen family bonds and promote connections in our community. Together, we can nurture our children's growth and happiness!
