Fifth graders at Clear Stream Avenue School in Valley Stream District 30 recently participated in a “lunch and learn” activity.
The program was led by Keba Cairo from “Don't Snooze on Clues Academy,” one of the community organizations that the district has partnered with as part of their Family Connections initiative. The title of the session was, “Squad Goals: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers, and Leading with Respect.”
Ms. Cairo presented on the importance of group work in school and the workplace. Students gained communication skills through interactive activities culminating in a group project where they each made a poster representing their squad. One group drew the earth, with five hands coming out of it, representing their five team members while showing that they all had equal partnership in the group.
