Forest Road Elementary School in Valley Stream District 30 welcomed Pre-K and kindergarten students and their families on Aug. 21 with a special storytelling event designed to promote literacy and build a strong sense of community within the school. The event featured an engaging introduction by the students' teachers, centered around the beloved children's book “Pete the Cat.”

The storytelling session brought the adventures of Pete the Cat to life, with activities that included acting out scenes from the story, identifying the main character, and participating in fun, physical movement games. Under the theme "Rhythm is all around us," students also created their own musical instruments inspired by “Pete the Cat.”

The event provided a warm and joyful introduction to the Forest Road School community, as students and their families embraced the new school year together. The combination of storytelling, interactive activities and music made for an enriching experience, leaving everyone excited for the academic journey ahead for these Global Leaders of Tomorrow.
