Valley Stream District 30 is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Lewner as the new assistant principal at Forest Road Elementary School. Ms. Lewner joins the district with a wealth of elementary and secondary educational experience, most recently serving as a math lead teacher at The Scholars Academy in Rockaway Park. In this position, she mentored new teachers, served as a grade leader and provided instructional support and feedback to staff. Ms. Lewner also served as the data and testing specialist, analyzing math team data for grades 6-12 on a school, city and statewide level.

Ms. Lewner is also a member of the New York City Department of Education Math Advisory Council, through which she provides feedback for citywide professional development, and is a Common Core Math Fellow, also for the NYC DOE. As a fellow, Ms. Lewner trains teachers and DOE staff members on aligning materials to the Common Core Learning Standards, among other duties.

Ms. Lewner has additional experience as a math coach and math teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Queens College and a Master of Science in Secondary Education of Math from L.I.U. C.W. Post University.
