The students at Forest Road School have been learning about the Character Trait of Empathy as part of their schoolwide Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support (PBIS) program. As the oldest children in the school, and the graduating class of 2010, the building’s sixth-grade students have kicked off a schoolwide campaign that is centered on this very topic. The students have decided to turn learning into living by undertaking a social action project with a long-lasting goal.

Rather than begin a food drive just for a holiday, these children have realized that due to our country's current economic woes, many more families than ever before are in need of some basics year round. As such, they have decided to create Forest Road Lends a Hand, a program that will gather, organize and donate food items to local food pantries for distribution for the entirety of the school year.  Keep on the alert for the school’s advertisements as they work to collect specific food items each month!  If you are interested in donating, please contact the school at 791-6134.
