To educate families on the variety of services and technological tools that Valley Stream District 30 offers its students, the district will be hosting its annual “Taste of a Service” parent fair on Nov. 21 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Shaw Avenue School. The event will connect with the district’s theme of the year, “Lift Every Voice.”
Students and family members from Clear Stream, Forest Road and Shaw Avenue elementary schools, as well as incoming kindergarten families, are invited to speak with faculty members about the services offered to students to help set them up for success. Reading specialists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, classroom teachers, music and physical education teachers, behavioral consultants, school nurses, school psychologists and enrichment specialists from throughout the district will be stationed in the gymnasium to discuss strategies used in the classroom and speak with families about what can be utilized at home to support their child’s learning. In addition, chaperones will be available, entertainment will be provided for students and light refreshments will be served.
