On Joo, library media specialist from Forest Road Elementary School, was recently recognized by Nassau BOCES and the Nassau Association of School Technologists with the NASTAR Award for her innovation and exemplary technology leadership in District 30 and beyond. She was one of 23 recipients from across Long Island to receive the inaugural award. 

As a valuable member of the District 30 family for the past four years, Ms. Joo has designed and maintained an extensive blog/website filled with Makerspace projects, contest information, links to educational software and more. This blog/website serves as a valuable resource for students, teachers and families throughout the community. 

Ms. Joo felt honored when she learned she would be receiving the NASTAR Award. 

“As a library media specialist, I always enjoy learning new technology and integrating it into the curriculum to promote creativity in learning,” she said. “By enhancing student-centered learning through technology, I will keep doing my best to help our students develop the skills necessary to succeed in college, career and life.”
