Fourth-graders at Forest Road School recently took part in a STEAM challenge, for which they were asked to use a paper plate, pipe cleaners and strips of paper to design and construct a marble maze. A main requirement was for the structure to be able to withstand a marble as it navigated its way from a starting point to the finish line. Twists and turns were encouraged, and many participants equated this to designing a roller coaster. Students were not provided with any visual models and had a time limit to complete this project.
