The Valley Stream District 30 Board of Education held a virtual meeting on Dec. 14 and recognized several new teachers, along with one outstanding tenure recipient.

Jessica Price, Allyson Godbout, Pria Das and LeRoy Graham were appointed as new elementary teachers in the district and Beatrice Bruno was appointed as the new district enrichment teacher. Remedial reading teacher Jessica Tiefenwerth received high praises from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas Stirling, Board members and Shaw Avenue Principal Christopher Colarossi before receiving tenure, a milestone in an educators career.

“She is a skilled teacher who is very knowledgeable in literacy,” said Dr. Stirling. “She is organized, approachable and very committed to improving the reading abilities of our students.”

In addition, Ashley Starna was appointed to the full-time permanent Assistant Business Manager position. Ms. Starna joined District 30’s business department over the summer and has clearly demonstrated her hard work and dedication. Assistant Superintendent for Business Brian Phillips shared that Ms. Starna has been an asset to the business department and highly deserving of the permanent position.
