In honor of Computer Science Education Week, students participated in the Hour of Code on Dec. 11. The Hour of Code is a global effort to celebrate computer science with coding activities for a full hour.

All elementary students from Clear Stream Avenue, Forest Road and Shaw Avenue schools participated in the Hour of Code in the morning with millions of other schools and students around the world. Each student used an electronic device to code games in their classrooms. They followed steps and translated it into a language that their device could understand. Students had fun developing their own codes to solve problems with animated figures. The hour of engagement helped students grow as 21st century learners.

“We are doing this in an effort to promote computer science awareness and ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to become future leaders in the computer science industry,” said Administrative Director of 21st Century Learning Susan Rodriguez.
