School psychologist Dr. Francyne Zeltser was recently recognized as the recipient of the New York Association School Psychologists Chapter O (Nassau County) School Psychologist of the Year Award. Dr. Zeltser has been a valuable member of the district since 2012 and currently works with students and staff at Forest Road School and Shaw Avenue School.

In addition to her work in Valley Stream District 30, she sees patients in a private practice called “Child and Family Psychology” in Franklin Square and is an adjunct professor in the School Psychology Graduate Program at St. John’s University.

Dr. Zeltser was presented with the award at the New York Association of School Psychologists Annual Conference at the Conference Center at Lake Placid. She was nominated by her former school psychology interns from St. John’s University and her nomination was supported by Shaw Avenue Principal Alejandro Rivera, District 30’s Director of Special Services Nicole Schimpf and colleagues who wrote letters of endorsement.

Among her many attributes, administrators and fellow colleagues spoke about her professionalism, high level of support for both students and families, leadership abilities and counseling services in their endorsement letters.

“I feel honored to have been awarded Nassau County School Psychologist of the Year,” said Dr. Zeltser. “It’s extremely rewarding working with young children and their families and it’s a privilege to be recognized by my colleagues for it.”
