Shaw Avenue Elementary School’s sixth grade Student Advocates in Valley Stream District 30 held a Thanksgiving food drive to support people in need from Nov. 18-22.

During the food drive, which was held during American Education Week, students collected nonperishable food items for people throughout the school community. The Student Advocates also designed posters which were on display throughout the building to spread awareness for the food drive. All donations will go to the Blessed Sacrament Church’s food pantry to be distributed to community members in need.

The district commends Shaw Avenue’s Student Advocates for organizing this year’s Thanksgiving food drive.
