Clear Stream Avenue students from Valley Stream District 30 recently learned more about how to sustain a healthy lifestyle with an engaging health and wellness workshop sponsored by Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center, Northwell Health. The workshop will be held at the remaining two elementary schools in the district, Shaw Avenue and Forest Road, later this month.

Throughout the day, classes entered the school gymnasium where nine stations were set up for students to explore. Northwell Health representatives facilitated the stations which covered important topics. These included how to cross the street safely, eating right, proper dental hygiene, effective handwashing, protecting the environment by planting, what to expect when you visit the doctor’s office and more. Each student received a bag which they filled with information from each station, along with other goodies. The workshop was a great way to get student’s thinking about their own daily habits and how they can better themselves.
