Students Debate Dress Codes

Taya Bartell’s fifth-grade class at Forest Road Elementary School recently debated whether or not school uniforms should be enforced in schools and how attire can impact student success.

The students researched and made compelling arguments, for or against uniforms, which they presented to their peers. Inspired by some of the points their classmates made, students decided to complete a social experiment to see if dressing formally improved test scores.

The class found that students who dressed formally received an average of 82% on the math unit test and those who dressed casually received a 77% on the same assessment.
