Building and central administrators, board members and families celebrated the accomplishments of students throughout Valley Stream District 30 on June 17 in the Shaw Avenue Elementary School auditorium. The Valley Stream 30 Board of Education Awards Presentation is an annual event which honors outstanding students of all grade levels from Clear Stream Avenue, Forest Road and Shaw Avenue schools.

Jennifer Lewner, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, opened the ceremony by thanking all those in attendance and welcoming district administrators and board of education. This followed with an address from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas Stirling.

“As I look out into the audience, I’m looking specifically at our students that are sitting here this evening because they truly represent the best of the best here in the Valley Stream 30 School District,” he said.

Students were honored for their service, leadership, academic excellence and musical and art achievements. In addition, PTA reflections and SEPTA personal achievement awards were presented by their organizations. PTA reflection winners, 2019 New York City NBA Math Hoops Tournament winners, Breaking Barriers Essay Contest winners, spelling and geography bee school champions and New York State School Music Association participants were among the many awards presented throughout the evening. Each award recipient was congratulated by Dr. Stirling and the board of education after receiving their award in front of proud family and friends.
