Valley Stream District 30 administrators, board of education members, staff and parent organizations attended the 23rd annual Legislative Breakfast, sponsored by the Valley Stream Council of PTAs on March 9 at Memorial Junior High School. The event brought the Valley Stream component school districts together to meet with elected local and state officials to advocate for actions that will support public education. 

 Council of PTAs First Vice President Michelle D’Elia provided opening remarks and welcomed a panel of political dignitaries that included Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen, Natalie Block Levin representing Congresswoman Kathleen Rice, New York State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages and Nassau County Legislator William Gaylor. 

The Valley Stream Central High School District Culinary Institute prepared a delicious continental breakfast for the attendees and musical entertainment was provided courtesy of North High School’s Breakfast Club ensemble. In addition, Valley Stream Girl Scouts led the flag ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance. 

The political leaders introduced themselves and summarized efforts they have made for their school districts, and discussed matters related to the funding of public education as well as a variety of school safety topics.
