Students throughout Valley Stream District 30 invited family members into their classrooms in honor of the National Education Association’s American Education Week on Nov. 12-16. American Education Week is celebrated each year to recognize those individuals who are making a difference in the lives of students.

Clear Stream Avenue, Forest Road and Shaw Avenue schools honored the special week by inviting families into the classrooms to not only thank them for their support but to showcase all the great things their children are learning. Administrators and faculty members warmly greeted the guests as they arrived while they entered their child’s classroom to participate in engaging lessons and activities. Students showcased their daily routines, what they are currently learning and their participation skills.

In addition, each school hosted its third Friendly Family Tour of the 2018-19 school year during the week. The tours foster a family and district connectedness by allowing loved ones to get a closer look into the curriculum programs and tools that their students are utilizing in the classrooms on a daily basis.
